A careful examination of the difference between running on the treadmill compared to runnning on flat ground.
This was analysed over very many hours of work by Anthony Sargeant as a young research assistant using the techniques available at the time (for example: ultra high speed cine film of movement patterns was examined frame by frame and the position of body markers digitized). Eventually the work was presented as a communication to The Physiological Society in this publication. It should have been written-up as a full research paper. Unfortunately, Peter Cavanagh, who was a key member of the team and held the data, moved to the USA before we could draft the paper and it never saw the light of day.
